The wedding is taking place near the city of Sparti (widely known as Sparta!), in the coastal are of the Peloponnese in Greece. They are a Greek couple, the woman is from that area, and she desired to have an illustrative representation of the little church nested in a small island covered in the pine forest - in fact this is the place of the couple’s choice for the ceremony.

The work has to happen quite quickly as the wedding date was approaching. They chose to print a few copies for the family and closest friends and send the digital versions to the other invitees. The local printing shop was responsible to typesetting the layout so my only task was to draw the motif.

Except for the landscape, there was a need for a small representation of the cactus-like plant very common in the area, known as fragosyko. It entered in the place of the “&” between their names.

I made the draft sketch in Procreate after which I imported it into Illustrator, vectorized it and adjusted the details. The printing shop received a vector file they incorporated into the final result.
